Here are a few tips on what makes the perfect Harlequin Medical Romance story:

  • Keep a strong focus on the developing central romance, which unfolds against the backdrop of medical drama.
  • But remember that contemporary, international medical settings are integral to the story.
  • A Medical hero is at the top of his game. He’s a dynamic and dedicated life-saver that has a heart of gold!
  • A Medical heroine is intelligent, professional, warm-hearted and empathetic! She’s everything a modern woman can relate to and aspire to be. And every bit as on-her-game as her hero!
  • Innovative internal emotional conflicts.
  • These stories have a range of sensuality, from steamy and intensely passionate to warm and tender, but always combined with a high level of emotion.

  1. Miranda fix

    Hi
Could you please clarify what you mean by one project submission at a time?
I participated in the Great love inspired author search deadline 3/15 and Carina Press Romantic Suspense deadline 2/27; I thought it was okay for both submissions because it wasn’t the entire manuscript, however I am not sure now if I should not have submitted both at the same time.
    Thank you.

    • Miranda

Hello, this is an update on my comment. They are two separate manuscripts that I am submitting. I just realized I did not add that to my former question.

      Hi, Miranda

We just mean that we’d like authors to submit only one entry per blitz at a time, as opposed to sending in multiple submissions to the same blitz.

  2. Is it okay for current Harlequin series authors to submit, or is the Medical Romance Blitz for new authors only? I currently write for a Harlequin series, but have an idea for a medical romance that’s been bugging me for months. If it’s okay to submit, can I go through the Blitz form, or should I speak with my current series editor? Thanks in advance! 🙂

      Hi, Jamie

Absolutely fine to submit to the Medical Blitz, however we would advise you to mention it to your current editor also – they may be able to offer some advice/guidance for you.
